A vez primeira que eu fitei Tereza,
\nComo as plantas que arrasta a correnteza,
\nA valsa nos levou nos giros seus\u2026
\nE amamos juntos\u2026 E depois na sala
\n\u201cAdeus\u201d eu disse-lhe a tremer co\u2019a fala\u2026<\/p>\n

E ela, corando, murmurou-me: \u201cadeus.\u201d<\/p>\n

Uma noite\u2026 entreabriu-se um reposteiro\u2026
\nE da alcova sa\u00eda um cavaleiro
\nInda beijando uma mulher sem v\u00e9us\u2026
\nEra eu\u2026 Era a p\u00e1lida Teresa!
\n\u201cAdeus\u201d lhe disse conservando-a presa\u2026<\/p>\n

E ela entre beijos murmurou-me \u201cadeus!\u201d<\/p>\n

Passaram tempos\u2026 sec\u2019los de del\u00edrio
\nPrazeres divinais\u2026 gozos do Emp\u00edreo\u2026
\n\u2026 Mas um dia volvi aos lares meus.
\nPartindo eu disse \u2014 \u201cVoltarei!\u2026 descansa!\u2026\u201d
\nEla, chorando mais que uma crian\u00e7a,<\/p>\n

Ela em solu\u00e7os murmurou-me: \u201cadeus!\u201d<\/p>\n

Quando voltei\u2026 era o pal\u00e1cio em festa!\u2026
\nE a voz d\u2019Ela e de um homem l\u00e1 na orquestra
\nPreenchiam de amor o azul dos c\u00e9us.
\nEntrei!\u2026 Ela me olhou branca\u2026 surpresa!
\nFoi a \u00faltima vez que eu vi Teresa!\u2026<\/p>\n
